Alberta Pro-Life is a
province wide group which works to educate and motivate Albertans
on life issues, most notably abortion and euthanasia.
Alberta Pro-Life began in 1986 and was formed to fulfill a need for a provincial umbrella group for community based pro-life groups around the province. Alberta Pro-Life has an elected board of directors which meet several times a year. APL is a non-profit society and because our mandate is to do both educational and political advocacy work we are not a registered charity.
Since 1986, we have defended the sanctity of life
from conception to natural death, speaking on behalf of our society's
most vulnerable members -prenatal children, the chronically ill,
the elderly and the disabled.
As a member of Alberta Pro-Life, you will
receive a copy of The Rose, our quarterly newsletter, which keeps
you abreast of life issues within Canada and the province. It includes
a calendar of pro-life events throughtout our province. You also
have the opportunity to receive subscription to The Interim at a
significant discount.
Alberta Pro-Life is a non-profit
organization. However, we do not have a charitable tax number and
donations are not tax deductible.
The board of Alberta Pro-Life includes members from
across the province and our executive is elected annually at our
annual general meeting.

Why do we need a pro
life group?
In Canada the killing of prenatal children
is legal anytime before the child's head passes through the
birth canal. There are no restrictions
on the procedures of abortion and in Alberta all abortions
are paid for by the taxpayers through the Alberta public health
care system.

At present, euthanasia and doctor abetted suicide
are illegal. However we notice more and more cases in which the
medical community, the courts and some politicians ignore the law
and actively lobby to legalize these killings.
If we want to change this, we must continue to encourage
and channel the attitude amongst Albertans that this disposing of
humans is unacceptable. That means educating Albertans about abortion
and euthanasia and counteracting the predominant message from the
mass media that some lives are disposable. It is difficult for individuals
to do this alone. In a pro-life group, people share talents, resources
and prayes and work effectively to produce change.
